In a series of blog posts today, Adobe outlined changes and improvements announced for their Lightroom CC ecosystem and XD prototyping tool.
According to Adobe, February’s Lightroom ecosystem updates focus on significant performance enhancements and feature requests from customers to improve existing workflows.
Since introducing Lightroom CC last fall at Adobe MAX and renaming its predecessor Lightroom Classic CC, Adobe has been quickly iterating on the new application to bring it up to par with its previous tools. In the interim, both apps continue to be supported and actively developed. Today’s updates also include some notable features for the Android version of Lightroom, some of which are coming soon to iOS. Highlights include:

• Improved speed in multiple areas, including import grid loading, import and preview generation, export, and more
• Instantly create collections from folders, making it easy to sync with Lightroom CC for mobile
Lightroom CC for Android
• Lightroom CC for Desktop now allows users to add copyright to imported images
• The ability to search your Lightroom library with Google Assistant
• The ability to add photos from your favorite apps, making it easier than ever to get all of your photos into Lightroom
The company’s newest prototyping tool, Adobe XD, has also been updated. In tandem with the new features, Adobe is giving away three free icon kits that can be used in mockups. Three noteworthy designers teamed up with Adobe to make the freebie possible. Updates to XD include:
Creative Cloud members can take advantage of these updates today. For those not yet subscribed to Creative Cloud, Adobe’s Photography Plan starts at $9.99/month and includes Photoshop and Lightroom CC as well as up to 10TB of cloud storage. Adobe XD CC is available with a single app subscription for $9.99/month or comes bundled with the full Creative Cloud suite for $49.99/month.
• Layout grids in Design Specs (Beta) better support communication between designers and developers
• Three free, exclusive icon collections, created in partnership with leading designers around the globe – Lance Wyman, Anton and Irene and BüroDestruct
• Adobe XD for Windows 10 features basic pen and touch support
• Preserve scroll position – When wiring objects in a prototype, designers can now control their position to maintain that place on the next screen without having to scroll from the top
• Eyedropper in Property Inspector – User can sample color stops in their gradients directly from the Property Inspector to save time with one less click to access the eyedropper
