In 2010, Adobe released the Packager for iPhone component included with its Flash Professional CS5 software at the time. Flash made it easy to compile ActionScript bytecode into native iPhone application code that developers could then distribute as iPhone application installer (IPA) files via the iTunes store. Unfortunately, at the time, Apple had made some different changes to its iOS 4 SDK license that prevented major third-party developers such as Adobe from using development tools other than those created by Apple....

Disney continues to crank out live-action adaptations of its beloved animated classics, with no fewer than three new movies hitting the big screen this year. Dumbo is first, in March, and The Lion King is sure to be a box office smash in July. Between those two is the film that may be Disney’s biggest gamble of 2019: Aladdin. Hitting cinemas in May, Aladdin will be a re-telling of the animated tale of a street-rat with a heart of gold, the magic lamp he finds, and the princess that he woos....

We’re still months away from Apple’s expected announcement of the iPhone 6, but ambitious manufactures are already designing accessories based on current rumors. Additional silicon cases rumored to fit the iPhone 6 were recently published on NoWhereElse and provide a closer look at some of the device’s possible design changes. The case pictured above has slightly rounded edges, similar to the 5th generation iPod touch or iPhone 5c, and are consistent with previous rumors....

Netflix’s sci-fi series Altered Carbon takes place around 400 years in the future, but since protagonist Takeshi Kovacs has been alive for more than 300 years it’s easy to lose track of the show’s timeline. To make matters even more confusing, Altered Carbon season 2 picks up 30 years after the events of the season 1 finale and moves the action away from Earth, to Takeshi’s home planet of Harlan’s World....

Adobe today has rolled out updates to a pair of its iOS apps, adding support for features introduced in the latest version of Apple’s operating system. Adobe Photoshop Fix and Adobe Photoshop Mix have both been updated this evening, the former being bumped to version 1.1 and the latter to version 2.1. The changelogs for both updates are identical. Adobe has added support for iOS 9 multitasking to Photoshop Fix and Photoshop Mix....

Professional photo management software Lightroom, which is perhaps our favorite Mac app from Adobe, just recently got a big update to 4.0. There are many nasty, little bugs hiding in the software, as with most big updates, which only come out when a wider audience starts using the app. Adobe addressed many of the bugs today with its Lightroom 4.1 update (not in Mac App Store yet, as of this writing)....

Apple and its Beats subsidiary don’t seem to be having much luck with wireless in-ear headphone production. Following the continuing delay in bringing AirPods to market, an email from Apple authorized reseller B&H suggests that the BeatsX earphones will also be significantly delayed. BeatsX – in-ear Bluetooth headphones with a cable connecting the two earpieces – still show a ‘coming this Fall’ date on Apple’s website. Since Fall officially ends on December 20, that gives the company just over a week to meet the deadline, but an email to B&H customers suggests they won’t ship for another 2-3 months....

South Korean tech giant Samsung released Android 12-powered OneUI 4.0 stable update on Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 just a couple of days ago. Although the update should’ve brought a stable update on the two foldable devices, it has so far been a disaster as there are countless reports on the stable update failing. According to user reports, foldable smartphones from Samsung that received the said stable update in a few countries are facing issues like the devices are getting bricked after installing it....

Earlier this year, Apple (sort of) won a trademark lawsuit to Mexican telecommunications company iFone over the use of the phonetically-identical “iPhone” brand. The iFone trademark was originally filed in 2003, and in 2009 the company filed a suit against Apple. In March 2013 the case ended with the decision that Apple had in fact not infringed on the mark. The logic behind the ruling was based on the difference in the two companies’ markets....
