ABC releases the Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 6 full trailer. Throughout its first five seasons, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has tackled all manner of villains and storylines. Most recently, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 traveled to the future - and to space. The season ended with the team managing to save Earth from being destroyed by Graviton, but they lost two of their own. The S.H.I.E.L.D. team was unable to save Phil Coulson from his Avengers injury - which had been repaired using Kree technology that was then undone by his deal with Ghost Rider in season 4....

Following the divisive reception to 2012’s Prometheus, director Ridley Scott is set to return to the Alien world he first helped create in 1979 with this year’s Alien: Covenant. Billed as the second installment in the Prometheus prequel trilogy, the film is set to have more direct connections to the 1979 original film than the 2012 prequel did, and not just in its specific creatures and story. Disney is moving forward with Aladdin 2, a sequel to last year’s live-action remake and has hired a pair of writers to pen a script that is an original story and not based on any of the animated sequels. Remaking their animated classics has become one of Disney’s latest avenues for success with Aladdin’s $1 billion worldwide gross the latest success story. The film was directed by Guy Ritchie and starred Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, and Will Smith as Genie....

The Aladdin remake may have made a lot of money for Disney at the box office, but giving forgettable minor antagonist Prince Anders a spinoff is a terrible idea. Many believed Aladdin would be an expensive write-off for the company thanks to a questionable director choice in the form of Guy Ritchie, an exceedingly high reported budget of $183 million, and uninspiring marketing, and that didn’t even get into the decades-long conversations of Orientalism and cultural appropriation that have surrounded Aladdin since its animated debut in 1992....

Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. has a healthy mix of characters originally created for the screen and characters adapted from comics. Phil Coulson, for example, was created for the movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe before spinning out into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and appearing in comics. Though Skye appeared to be an original screen character, she was actually an adaptation of Marvel comics’ Daisy Johnson. Agents May, Ward, Fitz, and Simmons debuted in the pilot episode as creations for the show, but all made their way into comics....
